Occasional Inspection must be conducted in the event of modifications or repairs that may affect the seaworthiness of the ship or the maintenance of human life safety, regardless of the timing of Special Inspection or Intermediate Inspection. However, this excludes repairs that involve replacing the hull-related items with certified products (type-approved products) for the first time.
【Modifications】 Changes to the main dimensions of the ship and other main structures of the ship (those that affect the strength, watertightness, or fire protection of the ship)
【Repair】 Work on the main parts of the hull (work that may affect the strength, watertightness, or fire protection of the hull)
【Repair】 Work to change or replace electrical circuits installed in dangerous areas
【Repair】 Repair to replace the hull-related object fixed to the ship with one of the same performance or type.
【Repair】 Work that requires complex or special skills or equipment
Examples of hulls that require Occasional Inspection are summarized below. *As a general rule, you must have a thorough discussion with the ship inspector before starting any modification or repair. If you have any questions or concerns regarding individual procedures, please feel free to contact us.
